Weapons Section

There are many portions to the knowledge that encompasses shooting qualifications in the Marine Corps these days. For the most part, they can be broken down into a couple basic sections. You have the two weapons that Marines from any MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) can qualify on: Rifle (M16A2, M16A4, or M4) and Pistol (M9). Each qualification has its own set of rules and of course all the knowledge that goes along with that.

Then there are the other assorted weapons that the Marine Corps uses, some of which Marines will use at MCT (Marine Combat Training) after Boot Camp, and some which Marines would only see if their jobs in the Fleet Marine Force directly involved its use. At MCT, each Marine will learn about and use these weapons:

M240G Medium Machine Gun
M249 SAW
M67 Grenade
M203 Grenade Launcher
M136 AT4 Rocket.

Any weapons systems beyond the ones listed here, just search for them in Wikipedia to learn more about them. For a comprehensive list of all weapons systems that the Marine Corps uses, click here.
